Beeswax is an important ingredient in our products, not only does beeswax help give our products an amazing texture but it also contains many medicinal properties. Many skincare products use beeswax because it is a natural emulsifier, meaning that it has the ability to bind oils together. At Mountain Wisdom we use beeswax both for its emulsifying properties as well as its medicinal properties.
Beeswax creates a protective barrier on the skin when used topically, this helps lock in moisture as well as protect the skin from environmental irritants and harsh weather. Beeswax is known to be anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial which is why there is a high amount of it in our Regenerate Healing Salve, it also helps to fade scars and the vitamin A content promotes skin regeneration. Beeswax also is anti-allergenic which means that it can protect the skin from airborne allergies and it has been proven to aid in the healing of skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea. Similar to honey, beeswax is highly stable due to its germicidal properties which helps to extend the shelf life of products it is used in.
